Referee Program Updates
U10 TEAM REFEREES
This season, Assistant Referees (aka Sideline Referees or A/R’s) will not be assigned to our U10 games; only a Center Referee will be assigned by the league. The Assistant Referee position will be shared by the parents! Each team will provide an A/R for each of their games. This Parent Referee (Team Official) will monitor their own touchline (sideline) looking for when the ball leaves the field, and which team kicked the ball out. We will provide training to all parents and will be there to support you throughout the season. And since you will be monitoring your own child’s game, you won’t miss a minute. This is a great opportunity for you to be a role model for your child while being a part of their soccer experience – not to mention serving your community.
Training for Team Officials is set for August 9 from 6-8 pm at our SMYS Headquarters located at 772 N. Twin Oaks Valley Road, Suite F. More information will be provided as the season gets closer, but you can sign up now for the class by clicking HERE. So clear the date on your calendar so you don’t miss this opportunity to be a hero to your kids.
Our U12 and U14 divisions are in great need of referees, and we are reaching out to all parents and players (12 years and older) to help make this program successful.
As servants of the community, we don’t get a lot of thanks, nor do we seek the recognition; but it is nice to know we are appreciated for our contributions. With that, here are some ways we say “thanks” to our referees:
- Children of referees who complete 8 games in a season will be invited to participate in the Divisional Invitational Games at the end of the season (formally called Divisional All-Star Tournament). Players receive a special t-shirt to commemorate their participation in this special game for children of volunteers and all-star prospects. This is a fun day of games that the kids will remember.
- Referees who complete 15 games in a season will receive a full refund for their child’s fall registration.
- For U14, U16, and U19 teams, if two players from one team complete 10 games in a season, their team will receive $75 from the league towards a team party at the end of the season.
- Referees will receive food and drink at the concessions stand on the days they ref a game.
Training for new referees is set for August 5th from 8:00am-4:00pm at our SMYS Headquarters located at 772 N. Twin Oaks Valley Road, Suite F. More information will be provided as the season gets closer, or you can sign up now by clicking HERE. So clear the date on your calendar so you don’t miss this opportunity to be a hero to your kids.
